Hon’ble Health Minister, Govt. of Bihar, Shri Mangal Pandey inaugurated a Model Immunization Centre and an automated Family Planning Information Centre at Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital on Thursday, 17 Jan. 2019.
Chairing the launch event, Health Minister said that State Government is tirelessly working to bring down the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) in Bihar. Stressing that Routine Immunization plays a significant role in the reduction of IMR, he thanked development partners for their support in opening the Model Immunization Centre and Family Planning Information Kiosk. Speaking on the occasion he mentioned that people would also get information related to Family Planning and Welfare schemes through the automated Family Planning Information Kiosk and could register their complaints, through it.
Dr. Hemant Kumar Shah, head of Care India, the lead development partner of the state apprised the present dignitaries, officials and beneficiaries that the Automatic Suchana Kendra (ASK) self-service kiosk, resembling an ATM machine, would provide the client with useful information on Family Planning as per their need. This would also serve as a grievance redressal mechanism assisted by text for ease of using. The Kiosk would dispense information based on client type, through a touch-screen based operation, enhanced for experience through intuitive user-friendly visuals and well-designed audio support.
He added that CARE India is working hand in hand with the State Government towards achievement of full Immunization coverage in Bihar, mentioning that Model Immunization Centre and Family Planning Kiosks are initially being established in three District Hospitals, Patna, Siwan and Nalanda.
